Before gin took over my life, music did.

For years I was a touring musician, living out of vans, sleeping in strange towns, and playing to rooms full of people who loved the same noisy rock music that I did. There’s something about that world, the creativity of sharing your music with strangers and watching them join you in your love of what you do.

That feeling never left me.

So when it came time to create something new once my touring days were behind me, I thought long and hard about my next step. I wanted to start my own business, and I wanted it to be built around something I loved, but not directly linked to the musical world. So I turned to the one drink I’ve always loved: gin.

I’ve had a lifelong fascination with it, not just drinking it, but the craft behind it. Gin is one of the few spirits where the possibilities are almost endless. You can build layers of flavour like parts of a song: botanicals instead of notes, distillation instead of production, a world of trial and error that feels a lot like writing music. You keep tweaking, adjusting, experimenting… until suddenly, it all clicks.

That’s how Skeleton Crew Spirits was born.

The name “Skeleton Crew” represents everything I believe in. You don’t need a huge team or a massive budget to create something brilliant. Sometimes it’s just a few people, or even one person, working with heart, determination, and the belief that small doesn’t mean weak. It reminds me so much of my days on the road: us against the world, five guys in a van conquering one town at a time. That’s what I want this company to be, winning one person at a time, one pub at a time.

It’s not the easy way… but the right way usually isn’t easy.
